CapeCodsters - A Place for Those That Love Cape Cod

How do you feel about having Gated Communities on Cape Cod? There are a few in the town I live in and they are pretty strict about who goes on the property (even when it stretches to the By). With such a large large 2nd home community down here, is this in the best interest of the Cape? I'm very thankful that we do have the National Seashore though.....

gated communities, is that like a culdesac? thats what they are called in my area ( in central ma ). i know i don't like them here and i think that on the cape it would take away the true romance of the area. the humble shingled cottages are cape cod to me.

sheila - these are actually neighborhoods that clearly mark - "Private Way" "Keep Out" and have a separate entrance to get into their streets - alot of times they have a "private beach". There are alot of cul-de-sacs down here as well...usually they are just streets though.

hey chris, the gated communities are still in the back of my mind, and got me thinking about the future of the cape. i had noticed last time i was there, some big elabotate houses appearing with the landscaping to match. it really took away the beauty of the cape. i can't help but wonder if one day all the beutiful cape cottages will be a look of the past and the cape will be covered with 2 story houses , with vinly siding.
